Getting started

How do I start?

Tap Try an example to see how it works with fictional numbers, or Start my own plan. Then fill in the steps: the dates you're planning for, the money you have on the first day, your paycheck, your bills, other spending, and money to set aside. Your result appears once every step is complete.

What starting balance should I enter?

The money in your account at the start of your first day, before anything on or after that day. If that day has already started, use your bank's balance from the end of the day before. Don't include a paycheck dated within your dates; it's added from Your paycheck. If your account is overdrawn, turn on My account is overdrawn and enter the amount without a minus sign.

How do I enter my paycheck and expenses?

Enter your take-home pay (what reaches your account) and your payday. Extra pay, like overtime, is optional; you can compare it separately, and your main result doesn't include it. Add each bill with its amount and due date, and add other spending you're planning, like groceries or gas.

Should I list a bill I've already paid?

Yes, if it's due in your dates and you paid it after the first day began. Leave out bills you paid before the first day.

How do I type amounts?

Use a period for cents, like 1234.56 or $1,234.56, with at most two decimal places. Write cents as 0.50, not .50. If you use commas between thousands, include cents, like 1,500.00.

Understanding your result

What does the result mean?

It's an estimate of what's left after the bills, spending and money to set aside you entered. The bill timing check also looks day by day to see whether your balance could dip below $0.00, or below your money set aside, before your dates end. It isn't your bank balance and isn't a promise of money you can spend.

Why don't I see a result?

Your result appears once every required entry is filled in correctly. Entries that need attention are marked.

Is this financial advice?

No. PayLeft is a planning aid based on what you enter. It doesn't connect to your bank, and no taxes are calculated. Pending transactions and your bank's processing can change real balances.

Saving and reopening plans

How do I save a plan?

Tap Save at the top of the Plan screen. An unfinished plan is saved as a draft (Save progress), so you can finish it later. Your saved plans are in the Saved tab, where you can open, continue or delete them.

How many plans can I keep?

Without PayLeft Pro, you can keep one saved plan or draft. Saving a different plan replaces it after you confirm. With PayLeft Pro, you can keep several.

Are my plans backed up? Can I move them to a new iPhone?

Your plans are stored only on the iPhone where you saved them. They don't sync to other devices. They may be included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup, depending on your settings, and restoring that backup to an iPhone can bring them back. If there's no backup, plans on a lost iPhone or a deleted app can't be recovered. We never receive your plans, so we can't recover them for you.

PayLeft Pro

What does PayLeft Pro add?

The planner and one saved plan or draft are always free.

How much is it?

PayLeft Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, with no free trial. The current price in your currency is shown in the app before you buy. It renews automatically until you cancel.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. In the app, open Settings, then PayLeft Pro, then Manage subscription. Or on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your subscription renews. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription.

How do I restore my purchase?

In the app, open Settings, then PayLeft Pro, then tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought PayLeft Pro with.

How do I ask for a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What happens if PayLeft Pro ends?

Nothing is deleted. All your saved plans and regular items stay on your iPhone, and you can still open, change, save and delete them. Saving additional plans, Plan next payday and adding regular items need an active subscription.

Privacy

Do you see my financial information?

No. Your plans stay on your iPhone and aren't sent to us. There are no accounts, ads or tracking. See the PayLeft Privacy Policy.
